Lausanne (EPFL), one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, is located in Lausanne, a French-speaking area, and is a sister school with Zurich, a German-speaking Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. There are a number of specialized research institutions attached, and two schools form the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, which is directly under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Civil Affairs.
