Nanaimo, where the school is located, is located on Vancouver Island, BC, near Vancouver and Victoria. Nanaimo is a coastal city with four distinct seasons. You can enjoy the sea view near the city center or take a boat to the nearby islands. Vancouver Island University is the only university in Nanaimo, with a small population and a relatively quiet environment. It is a good place for students to study quietly.

The school provides more than 20 undergraduate, junior college and ESL English courses for arts and sciences majors. It offers MBA, bachelor's degree courses, university credit transfer courses, four-year diploma courses and two-year certificate courses, English courses (ESL), vocational, technical and business courses, and has established sister colleges with Asia-Pacific, Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States.

The school currently has 4000 registered students, including many international students from more than 50 countries. All the students are in small classes. Language courses start in three semesters every year.
