The National Sugarcane Industry Technology Research and Development Center was established in 2008. The chief scientist is Professor Chen Rukai. Professor Chen Rukai is a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, a winner of the May 1st Labor Medal and an outstanding expert in Fujian Province. Engaged in sugarcane research for 50 years, he won the only first prize of national sugar science and technology progress award since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and other national and provincial awards 10. He wrote 5 monographs and more than 200 papers, and trained 40 doctors and nearly 100 masters. At the same time, the center is also affiliated to Sugarcane Professional Committee of China Crop Society, Fuzhou Sugarcane Sub-center of National Sugar Crop Improvement Center, Sugarcane and Its Products Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of Ministry of Agriculture, Key Open Laboratory of Sugarcane Genetic Improvement of Ministry of Agriculture, and Fujian Sugarcane Engineering and Technology Research Center.
