1950 On June 23rd, the second plenary session of the first session of the China People's Political Consultative Conference, presided over by President Mao Zedong, adopted the pattern of the national emblem. Subsequently, the production of the relief pattern of the national emblem was put on the important agenda. Liang Sicheng recommended Professor Gao Zhuang from the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University to make a three-dimensional relief model of the national emblem.

From early July to mid-August, after a month and a half of hard work, Gaozhuang finally completed the design and molding of the national emblem model. On August 18, the National Emblem Examination Group of China People's Political Consultative Conference passed the examination of the embossed model of the National Emblem made by Gao Zhuang.

Extended information Gao Zhuang, a sculpture professor at the Department of Architecture in Tsinghua University, undertook the task of making the national emblem into a solid relief model from a plane pattern. No matter how hot it is in summer, Mr. Gao is meticulous and often meditates for several hours before moving the knife. In order to make the national emblem more solemn, clearer and more in line with the bidding conditions, Mr. Gao revised the details of the national emblem design, such as the size of the square, the position of the Chinese watch, the pattern of red stripes and so on. The overall and local changes of the revised national emblem design are more unified, more natural and beautiful.

Some people think that the design of the national emblem has been approved and should not be modified. To this end, Mr. Gao wrote a letter to Chairman Mao explaining the reasons for the amendment, which was approved by the Central Committee. On the eve of the National Day, Mr. Gao Zhuang and Mr. Xu Peizhen led the architectural students to complete the first batch of national emblem models of various specifications, and drew the ink line diagram and section diagram of the national emblem pattern.
