The lack of school space is an important factor that has plagued the development of Beijing Jiaotong University for many years. With the support of the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission, Hebei Province and xiong'an new area, Beijing Jiaotong University, together with three other affiliated universities in Beijing, took the lead in planning and building a new campus in xiong'an new area.

Xiong 'an Campus of Jiaotong University is located in the starting area of xiong'an new area, north of the five groups in the starting area, covering an area of about 2,600 mu. It is estimated that the first phase of construction will be completed and put into use around 2026.

Facing the long-term development in the future, Xiong 'an Campus will build a discipline system based on emerging interdisciplinary subjects, and plan to build a "world-class, China style, Xiong 'an model and Jiaotong University style" campus with the integration of science and education, a humanistic livable campus, a green ecological campus, a smart science and technology campus and a sustainable development campus.
