Give greater support to normal education in terms of policies and funds.

Deputy to the National People's Congress and Secretary of the Party Committee of Henan Normal University

Zhao Guoxiang

To revitalize normal education, the state should give greater support in terms of policies and funds. Normal education is a "machine tool" for teachers. To deepen the reform of teachers' team construction in an all-round way, we must vigorously support teachers' colleges to strengthen the foundation, improve the quality and increase the efficiency, and give full play to the main role of teachers' colleges in strengthening teachers and rejuvenating the country and running a satisfactory education for the people.

Due to the influence of historical development, natural conditions, local financial resources and many other factors, teachers in rural areas, especially in poverty-stricken areas, are relatively poor in terms of wages, living and working conditions. A survey shows that nearly 90% of rural teachers are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their overall income. Therefore, the rural teachers are unstable, and outstanding young teachers can't go down or stay, which directly affects the willingness of graduates from normal universities to teach in rural areas.

In terms of funds, it is necessary to tilt towards normal universities, improve the level of funds guarantee, and ensure that normal universities train high-level teachers. At the same time, it is necessary to further improve the working and living conditions of normal students and young teachers, especially those working in poverty-stricken areas, and solve their worries. In addition, it is necessary to create an atmosphere in which the whole society respects teachers and values teaching, so that teachers can have a sense of honor, acquisition, happiness and dignity, so that the teaching profession can become an enviable profession and attract more outstanding talents into the teaching staff.

It is not feasible to run a normal school behind closed doors.

Member Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, President of Northwest Normal University.

Teachers' education in comprehensive universities should be "small but refined", and related majors can be set according to their own professional advantages. For example, comprehensive universities with strong majors in mathematics and physics can offer teachers' majors to train middle school mathematics and physics teachers. High-level comprehensive universities can also cooperate with local normal universities, give full play to their respective advantages, and adopt a staged training mode of studying professional courses in high-level comprehensive universities for three years, studying teacher education courses in normal universities 1 year, and participating in educational practice to improve the quality of teacher education.

Teachers' colleges and universities should highlight the characteristics of teacher education, which is the foundation of settling down, but we should also realize that it is not feasible to stick to the traditional normal education system and run the old road of teachers behind closed doors. Teachers' colleges must adapt to the new changes and new demands in the development of basic education and serve the local economic and social development.

Local normal colleges should improve the training accuracy of normal students and train them according to their needs, especially in view of the shortage of weak subject teachers in rural areas and bilingual teachers in ethnic areas, and fill in the shortcomings of basic education teachers. Further improve the enrollment mode of normal students, adopt the way of large-scale enrollment and secondary selection, select more students who are interested in teaching in our school to enter specific modules for centralized training, and further increase the efforts of outstanding undergraduate graduates to study for master of education without examination.

Teacher education should actively adapt to the development of new technology.

Member Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, President of Chongqing Education University.

Teacher education should actively adapt to new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, and constantly improve the theoretical understanding and practical ability of normal students in modern classrooms.

If teachers in the future are expected to conduct learner-centered teaching, instead of following the book, then teachers' colleges should first change the teaching mode, so that future teachers can experience how to conduct independent inquiry and cooperative teaching, and how to stimulate and cultivate students' interest.

Explore the implementation of the dynamic management system of directional normal students, allowing directional normal students and non-directional normal students to make a second choice during their school days; Some special majors should be interviewed to ensure their professional level. In addition, establish and improve the rigid evaluation index of the academic status of normal students, and those who cannot complete the index should be retired through the necessary mechanism.
