The International Debate Competition has been held since 1993 was first held. It is held every two years. Held alternately in Singapore and Beijing.

Competition System of 2005 International Debate Competition for College Students
1. Any debater's opening statement for the affirmative is three minutes.
Any opposing debater will make a three-minute opening statement.
Any undecided debater who stands on the positive side will speak for three minutes.
The other party will speak for three minutes without any speech.
5. Any undecided debater of the positive side chooses any two debaters of the other side to attack and defend for 3 minutes.
6. Any undecided opponent debater chooses any two debaters of the other side to attack and defend for 3 minutes.
7. The undecided debater chooses two debaters from the other side to attack and defend for 3 minutes.
8. The opponent who didn't speak chose two debaters who didn't speak for three minutes.
9. The cumulative time for both sides of the free debate is 4 minutes.
10. Closing remarks, three minutes for each side, starting from the other side.
