I. Professional overview
The major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation in Chongqing University has a long history, rigorous scholarship, excellent style of study and strong academic strength. The mechanical engineering discipline of Chongqing University is the first batch of national first-class key disciplines, and also the national key construction discipline in the 11th Five-Year Plan, Project 2 1 1, Project 985. It has trained tens of thousands of advanced technical and management talents in mechanical engineering for the country and enjoys a high academic reputation among peers at home and abroad.
This major first belonged to the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering, Chongqing University (formerly department of mechanical engineering), and it was one of the five dominant majors of the school at that time. During the period of 1998, when the catalogue of undergraduate majors of the Ministry of Education was adjusted, the three undergraduate majors of mechanical design, mechanical manufacturing and mining machinery merged into the current major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation. In 2000, when Chongqing University merged with chongqing jianzhu university, the major of construction machinery in chongqing jianzhu university was also merged into this major. After more than 80 years' development, the specialty of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation has become one of the largest and most powerful majors in Chongqing University and even universities in China.
This major has obvious characteristics and strong discipline strength. Three "National Excellent Courses" and three "Chongqing Excellent Courses" have been built, which have the advantages of the State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission and the National Teaching Base of Construction Machinery. It has become a base for training senior professionals and scientific research and development in machinery manufacturing and major technical equipment industries in Chongqing, Southwest China and even the whole country.
