Why is Tsinghua University's English translation Tsinghua University?
Tsinghua University is an English translator of Tsinghua University, who obtained it through postal pinyin. The specific reasons are as follows:

After the Opium War, western powers flocked to carve up China. In order to deal with customs duties, postal services and trade related to China, the great powers began to learn Chinese. Under this historical background, Wade, a professor and diplomat at Cambridge University in England, created "Witomar Pinyin".

On the basis of "Vitomar Pinyin", the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications gave birth to "Romanization of China Post", which unified the English phonetic notation of names, places and things in China. This phonetic notation system influenced 100 years from the late Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the founding of New China. Although "postal pinyin" has long been abolished, some sayings still exist. This includes Tsinghua University's English translation.

In addition, the international code of Beijing Capital International Airport is PEK, using the first three letters of "Beijing" postal pinyin. "Chinese cigarette" is called China and "Tsingtao beer" is called Tsingtao beer.

1958. Chinese mainland officially announced the "Chinese Pinyin Scheme" and promoted it to the whole society. This is the Chinese Pinyin that we learned from childhood. However, China still has some school names. In order to keep a sense of history, we still use postal pinyin, such as Tsinghua and Peking University.
