The proposal to build a new university in Warwickshire was put forward shortly after the end of World War II. 1960, under the leadership of Lord Rootes, the University Preparatory Committee was formally established. Members of the Committee (mostly from Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council) agreed on the topic of school site selection: 400 acres (about 1.6 square kilometers) will be set aside next to Djibert Mountain for the construction of a new university. 196 1 year, the British government officially approved the establishment of Warwick University.
