The school was established in Beijing on September 1958, with Guo Moruo as the first principal. After its establishment, the Chinese Academy of Sciences implemented the school-running policy of "running the whole school and combining departments", and gathered a number of famous scientists, such as Guo Yonghuai, Zhao Jiuzhang, Hua, Qian Xuesen and so on, and was listed as a national key university in the second year of its establishment. 1970 At the beginning of the year, the school moved to Hefei, Anhui Province and started a second venture. After 1978, the school opened a juvenile class, built a graduate school for the first time, built a national science project, and opened the school to the world.
