University of Science and Technology Beijing, referred to as University of Science and Technology Beijing, is located in Beijing. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a "double first-class" construction university, and the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction university. 1952, Beijing Iron and Steel Institute was established by some departments of Beiyang University (now Tianjin University), Tsinghua University, Tangshan Railway Institute, Shanxi University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University. 1960, renamed Beijing institute of iron and steel; 1988, renamed University of Science and Technology Beijing. The school has three campuses, Haidian, Guanzhuang and Changping, covering an area of about 803,900 square meters, with a total construction area of 94 1 1.000 square meters.
