Shanghai Ocean University is a higher agricultural and forestry institution approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture. It is the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of the national education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents. The school was formerly Jiangsu Fisheries School, founded in 19 12. 1952 was renamed Shanghai Fisheries College, 1985 was renamed Shanghai Fisheries University, and in 2008 it was renamed Shanghai Ocean University.
As of July 20 15, Shanghai Ocean University has three campuses, namely, Hucheng Ring Road Campus in Pudong New Area, Simon Road Campus in Yangpu District and Minxing Road Campus in Yangpu District. The main campus, Hucheng Ring Road Campus, covers an area of about 1600 mu, with a planned construction area of 586,000 square meters. The school has 12 colleges, 47 undergraduate majors and directions, 2 postdoctoral research stations, 3 first-class doctoral degree authorization points and 10 first-class master degree authorization points. Full-time college students 12300, more than 3050 graduate students.
