There are more than 5,500 college students, receiving education from 8 undergraduate majors (mineral geology and prospecting, mining engineering, metallurgy, surveying and urban planning, management, mechanics, electrician and electronic technology, automatic control), 24 engineering majors and 6 master's majors.

The Institute of Mining and Technology has three computer centers: College, Department and Archaeological Room. These centers are equipped with modern computers provided by Hewlett-Packard Company, which effectively serve the teaching and scientific research work of the school.

The Institute of Mining and Technology also has a military education department, including a military research room, which trains reserve officers for air defense units, army and automobile soldiers.

The Institute of Mining keeps close contact with many enterprises and most units all over Russia, with branches in Volkut (with Volkut Mining Institute), Kirov, Monchigorsk, Mukesha, Yingta and Slanchach in Costeaux, and keeps close cooperation with mining companies in the northwest of China, thus ensuring a high level not only in theoretical teaching, but also in practical teaching for graduates.
