National "2 1 1 Project" key construction universities, national key construction universities in the west and universities jointly built by provincial departments were selected as "Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities" and "Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project of Central and Western Universities" (one province and one school).
2. Xinjiang University
Comprehensive universities with a long history, glorious revolutionary tradition and distinctive school-running characteristics occupy an important position in the layout of higher education in China and have a special regional position. It is the leader and vanguard of higher education in the autonomous region.
3. Xinjiang Medical University
Located at the foot of the scenic Carp Mountain in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is a medical college with a glorious tradition. Its predecessor, Xinjiang Medical College, was founded in 1954 and enrolled in 1956.
4. Tarim University
1958 10 was founded under the advocacy and care of General Wang Zhen, then Minister of Land Reclamation, to meet the needs of national frontier defense and the development of Tarim Reclamation Area for all kinds of talents. He served as honorary chairman for life.
The school is the first batch of undergraduate colleges with the right to award bachelor's degrees approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. In 2003, he was granted the right to confer a master's degree. In May, 2004, the Ministry of Education approved its name change to Tarim University.
5. Xinjiang Institute of Finance
The key university founded by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the only financial institution of higher learning in Xinjiang. Its predecessor was 1950, a training course for cadres of Xinjiang provincial people's government; 1959 upgraded to Xinjiang Institute of Finance and Economics; 1962 transformed into Xinjiang Finance and Trade School; 1980 xinjiang university of finance was restored with the approval of the State Council.
