The major of Asian-African Language and Literature was founded in 1949, and approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as the authorized point of doctoral degree, with associate professor 1994 students and master 16 students. The major of Comparative Literature and World Literature was set up in 1998, and was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as the authorized point of master's degree in the same year. This major began to recruit graduate students from 1999, and there are currently 17 graduate students. The teaching and research staff of this major are distributed in the Comparative Literature Teaching and Research Section of Korean Literature Department of Teachers College and the China Literature Teaching and Research Section. There are 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 teaching assistants and 6 tutors. Among them, there are 3 doctoral degree winners and 2 master degree winners. As a new discipline, this discipline and Korean language and literature specialty complement each other and have their own characteristics. The major of Comparative Literature and World Literature focuses on the bilateral and multilateral comparison between Chinese and foreign literature (including ancient and modern literature) and the interdisciplinary comparison between literature and other disciplines.
