Chongqing University (CQU) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), which was co-founded by the Ministry of Education, Chongqing Municipality and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

Ranked as "World-class University Construction University (Class A)", "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", it has been selected into "Innovation Ability Enhancement Plan of Colleges and Universities", "Academic Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan of Colleges and Universities", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan" and the National Project of Building High-level University Postgraduates.
