Hunan Medical University is one of the two universities that the World Federation of Medical Education and the Special Committee on International Medical Education are simultaneously conducting two standard pilot studies in China. It is also one of the first five universities to pilot eight-year medical education, and the only one with the "China Southern Medical Education Research and Development Center" funded by the American Chinese Medical Foundation.
