The Railway College of Central South University (formerly Changsha Railway College) was formerly the Central South Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which was formed by the merger of Wuhan University, Hunan University, Xue Nan University, Yunnan University and South China University of Technology in the adjustment of 1953 departments. 1958, Hunan Provincial Committee decided to rename the former Central South College 1959 as Hunan University. 1960 September 15 Based on the three departments of railway architecture, railway transportation and bridges and tunnels of Hunan University, the Railway Institute is directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Railways.
