How to visit Tongji University
Tongji University has no access restrictions and can visit at will. The following is a tour route guide:

Walk into the school gate, turn right along the road, walk past the administration building and visit the school history museum. Tongji University History Museum opened on the occasion of its centenary celebration. The overall design of the school history museum is presided over by the school teachers and students. Its appearance is modeled after the girls' dormitory in Wusong Campus of Tongji in 1930s, with three floors.

Compared with other universities, the portrait of Chairman Mao in Tongji has a distinctive right hand, which is said to come from Tongji's solid mechanical and technical background. It seems to be a kind of pride, which is always talked about by everyone in Tongji. ?

The building behind the statue is the library building. The main building is like an open book. Originally, there were only two old libraries in Tongji, but in the 1980s, a new library with more than ten floors was built for the needs of teachers and students. The design and construction are very difficult, because the old museum is required to continue to be used normally when the new museum is completed. So we first built two huge concrete columns in the middle and built a new library with the columns as the axis. At that time, the advanced high-rise long-span cantilever prestressed spatial structure technology was adopted for the first time in China. It belongs to one of Tongji classic buildings.

In the center of the lawn in front of Tongji Gate stands the famous national column, also called Tongji University Huabiao. The national pillar originated from the stone and wood archway in Suzhou in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. 1933 moved to Tongji university to fill in the school gate, but failed. The wooden structure was used to make models of ancient buildings, and the stone pillars were buried in situ. War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was bombed by the Japanese invaders, but it was buried underground and not completely destroyed. In May, 2000, it was excavated in the campus renovation, and the materials used were exquisite, which was really rare. So it was rebuilt and commemorated in a prominent place, named "connecting the past with the future" and was established in September 2000.

Our teaching building has a symmetrical layout, called the South Building and the North Building. The North Building was built in the 1950s, and it is still the place where most people in Tongji attend classes. This is what the North Building looks like after it snowed this year.

Tongji campus once had too many "best", and the auditorium was one of them. Tongji University Auditorium, built in 196 1, was once the largest auditorium in the Far East. Its arched grid structure, with a net span of 40 meters, was known as the highest in Asia at that time and was called "the first span in the Far East". The auditorium spans 54 meters and has 3564 seats. These two figures are not surprising, but it is worth noting that, in response to the monolithic reinforced concrete arch net thin shell structure, the open auditorium has no columns. The auditorium was built in the forties and fifties of last century and can accommodate more than 3,000 people. The auditorium is an arch structure with a span of 40 meters, which may be nothing today, but it is the largest arch building in East Asia when it is completed, and it is called "the first arch in East Asia". On the eve of the school anniversary, the auditorium was transformed, saving 40% energy and becoming an energy-efficient demonstration building. ?
