The major of studying Japanese in Changsha University is divided into two directions: international trade and international tourism, and it trains advanced applied talents who are engaged in international trade, international marketing, international tourism, teaching, foreign affairs and management with Japanese as a tool. As long as it meets the admission requirements of the school, it is not necessarily a major in learning small languages.

Changsha University is an undergraduate Japanese major, combining arts and sciences. In 2006, the Japanese major was approved to start recruiting Japanese undergraduates. In 2008, Japanese major was approved as a provincial major. 20 10 has been identified as a characteristic major of the Ministry of Education, and Elementary Spoken Japanese is a provincial-level excellent course. There are six teaching and research sections in the whole department: Basic English No.1 Teaching and Research Section, Basic English No.2 Teaching and Research Section, Translation Teaching and Research Section, Business English Teaching and Research Section, Basic Japanese Teaching and Research Section and Advanced Japanese Teaching and Research Section.
