The Art Institute has a history of nearly 30 years. Relying on the overall advantages of disciplines and talents in comprehensive universities, the college adheres to the school motto of "Mingde worships art and devotes itself to learning" and is committed to cultivating high-quality compound art professionals with equal emphasis on professional skills and cultural literacy, and coordinated development of artistic practice ability and theoretical research level.

The college has six undergraduate majors: fine arts (normal), fine arts (non-normal), visual communication design, environmental design, digital media art and animation. Among them, visual communication design and environmental design are national first-class professional construction sites, Jiangsu first-class professional construction sites and key majors in Jiangsu province, fine arts is the first-class professional construction site in Jiangsu province, and fine arts (normal) major is the construction major of "Jiangsu Excellent Teacher Training Plan". At present, there are two master of arts degree authorization points in the field of art design.

The college has a team of teachers with high teaching level, strong innovation ability and excellent design performance. Faculty 100, including 74 full-time teachers, 36 professors 10 and associate professors. There are 40 tutors for master students.

Among the teachers, there are 20 doctors and 2 are studying for doctors. Among the teachers, there are members of the Art Design Sub-committee of the National Art Professional Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee, provincial famous teachers and excellent tutors of provincial postgraduates, and many teachers have been awarded the titles of "Advanced Individual in Education", "Doctor of Double Creation" and "distinguished professor for Publicity and Culture in Gusu City" in Jiangsu Province. At the same time, the college employs more than 20 well-known experts, scholars and artists at home and abroad as part-time or visiting professors.
