Grade point refers to a method of evaluating academic performance in domestic colleges and universities. Each course has corresponding grade point requirements. In your major, the higher the grade point of a course, the more important it is. At the end of the semester, the GPA must exceed a value (this value is generally determined by the teacher of the course) before the course is qualified, otherwise it falls within the scope of failing the course and needs to be retaken at any time. Sometimes the GPA can't meet the requirements and even affect graduation.
Now there are more and more graduate students, and sometimes the work unit you apply for may have certain requirements for your GPA. Some people even favor graduates with high GPA. In a word, there is always no harm in trying to get that high score. High GPA is also beneficial to students who take the postgraduate entrance examination, because it will be one of the important basis for tutors to admit students.
