Take Chinese as an example, the courses that can be used as public elective courses are usually at the bottom, and these courses are basically not aimed at Chinese Pinyin or writing. This part of the course mainly expounds the history, evolution and development of Chinese. The course covers a wide range, involving evolutionary history, and requires some papers or speeches.
There is no view that universities think it is lazy to choose mother tongue courses, because these courses are novel in English teaching environment and from the perspective of the United States, and their content and difficulty are quite different from those in China, so they are relatively difficult.
As for ancient prose, it may be seen in a picture on one page of the textbook, but it should not be interpreted as being in China.
