The predecessor of Hebei University of Technology is Beiyang Technical School, which was founded in 1903. It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China to train industrial talents, and founded the earliest university-run factory in China. 1929 was renamed Hebei Institute of Technology, and 1995 was renamed Hebei University of Technology. School 1996 ranks among the first batch of "2 1 1 Project" key construction universities in China; 20 14 was undertaken by Hebei Province, Tianjin City and Ministry of Education; 20 17 was selected as a "double first-class" construction university in China.
There are 2 1 teaching institutions and 62 undergraduate enrollment majors in the school, including 30 national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, covering 7 disciplines of engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art, 2 national "world-class disciplines" 1 school, 2 national key disciplines, 3 world-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province and national first-class disciplines in Hebei Province.
