Emei Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University is an important part of the school-running pattern of "one school, two places and three campuses" of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Southwest Jiaotong University is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China. Its predecessor was Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway School, which was founded in 1896 (the 22nd year of Guangxu). It is the birthplace of modern transportation, mining and metallurgy and civil engineering education in China.
192 1 merged and reorganized into jiaotong university. Since then, the school has been named Tangshan Jiaotong University, Tangshan Engineering College of Jiaotong University, China Jiaotong University, Northern Jiaotong University and Tangshan Railway Institute.
1969 moved to Sichuan and changed its name to Southwest Jiaotong University the following year.
1989, Southwest Jiaotong University established Chengdu Campus. Emei Campus is located in Emei Mountain Scenic Area with beautiful scenery, which is a world cultural and natural heritage. The campus covers an area of 1033 mu, with a building area of 280,000 square meters.
