CER is a popular English academic journal published by China Economic Association for Studying in the United States. At present, it has become an authoritative journal for studying China's economy. China Economic Society (CES) was established in new york on May 26th, 1985.
Its earliest founding directors are six people, including Professor of University of California at Berkeley, Dean of Tsinghua School of Economics and Management, Assistant to President Peking University, Deputy Director of Peking University Economic Research Center, and Doctor of Business Administration in the United States. He used to work for GE and GM companies in the United States, and now he is the president of Koch Company, a top 500 American company, in China. The purpose of the American Association for Economic Studies Abroad is to promote China's market-oriented reform and opening up, China's economic exchanges with the world, foreign economists' participation in China's economic research, and the development of China's economics. At present, CES has more than 700 members from academia, government, multinational companies or financial services institutions in the United States, Asia, Europe and Canada. CES holds an annual meeting every year to promote academic exchanges among members of the association. 1992, CES became a joint social science association (ASSA). Since 1992, the association has hosted a series of meetings independently or jointly with other member units. Since 1993, CES has held an annual economic conference in Chinese mainland every year to provide suggestions for the further reform or strategy formulation of the China government. Participants include famous economists, senior government officials and business leaders at home and abroad, which shows the great political influence of CES in China. At the annual meeting, CES will elect a new academic leading group composed of six people and elect a chairman. At present, the elected president of CES is Dr. Hong Yongmiao, tenured professor of economics department of Cornell University, chair professor of Xiamen University and dean of Wang Yanan Economic Research Institute of Xiamen University. Under the sponsorship of Ford Foundation, CES will send about 6 members to teach at universities in Chinese mainland every year.
