2. Guilin University of Technology, referred to as "Guigong", is located in Guilin, a world-famous scenic city and historical and cultural city. The Planetary Science Alliance of China University, a key construction university in the "Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities", has been selected into the Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers of the Ministry of Education, the National Postgraduate Program for Building High-level Universities, the "Hundred Schools Project", the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, and the National New Engineering Research and Practice Project; Guangxi is a first-class discipline construction university, a national specialty, and a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. 3. The school originated from Guilin Geological School founded by the former Ministry of Heavy Industry 1956 in Guangxi. It is a university directly under the former Ministry of Heavy Industry and Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. The school has been affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industry, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and the Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation. 1July, 1998, it was restructured into a university jointly funded by the central and local governments and mainly managed by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 1978 was renamed Guilin Institute of Metallurgical Geology, 1993 was renamed Guilin Institute of Technology, and in 2009 it was renamed Guilin University of Technology.
