Academic proposition
Mr Yuji regards summing up China's ancient spiritual heritage as his lifelong pursuit and mission, and devotes himself to studying the history of Buddhism in China and the history of philosophy in China with historical materialism. In the contention of a hundred schools of thought in ancient China, he initially believed in Confucianism. After liberation, he accepted Marxism. He is best at summing up China's ancient philosophy with Marxism. The History of China's Philosophy (four volumes) edited by him has been the basic textbook of philosophy department in universities since 1960s. Over the past 40 years, generations of philosophers have been trained. In the late 1970s, he edited the History of China's Philosophy (seven volumes, four volumes). He pointed out in the article "Huang-Lao School with the shortest life and Huang-Lao Thought with lasting effect" that "Sima Qian's Historical Records combined with Lao Zi Han Fei and wrote Lao Zi Han Fei Biography". The ancients once accused Sima Qian of improper classification and thought that Laozi should not be put together with Han Fei. In fact, there are similarities between the two families, and the arrangement of historical records cannot be wrong, and there is nothing wrong with it. "
In 1950s, he regarded the study of Buddhist philosophy as an integral part of the study of China's philosophy. Since 1950s, he has published many articles on the study of Buddhist philosophy, which has been highly valued by Mao Zedong. These papers were later published as a collection of Buddhist thoughts in the Han and Tang Dynasties, which became the cornerstone of studying religious issues with Marxism in New China. 1964, President Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai ordered him to establish the Institute of World Religions. Over the past decades, the Institute of World Religions has trained groups of religious researchers. After the collection of Buddhist thoughts in Han and Tang Dynasties, he edited History of Buddhism in China (eight volumes, three volumes have been published), History of Taoism in China, Dictionary of Religion and Dictionary of Buddhism.
Mr. Ren's third academic contribution is "Confucianism is teaching and speaking", which fundamentally changed the view on the essence of China's traditional culture and was the basic theoretical achievement of understanding the true colors of China's traditional culture. Over the years, "Confucianism means teaching and speaking" has been gradually understood and recognized by academic circles.
Mr. Ren's fourth academic contribution is to lead a large-scale collation of traditional cultural materials. Since 1980s, Mr. Ren has led the collation and compilation of China Tripitaka. The whole book 106 volume,1020,000 words. The China Tripitaka (Part II) has also been published, with an estimated 200-300 million words. At the same time, Mr. Ren also presided over the compilation of The Grand Ceremony of China, with an estimated 700 million words.
Mr. Ren's fifth academic contribution is to always adhere to the Marxist religious view based on scientific atheism, adhere to the Marxist position in religious research, criticize all kinds of theism with atheism, and resist all kinds of foreign superstitions under the banner of science and national culture. Under his leadership, he founded Science and Atheism, the only magazine whose purpose is to promote atheism since the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Monographs include Buddhist Thoughts of Han and Tang Dynasties, History of China's Philosophy, Selected Academic Works of Ren, Selected Papers of Ren's Academic Culture, Complete Translation of Lao Zi, Interpretation of Lao Zi, etc. Editor-in-Chief: A Brief History of Chinese Philosophy, History of China Philosophy (4 volumes), History of Buddhism in China (8 volumes, 1 and 2 volumes), Religious Dictionary, History of the Development of China Philosophy (7 volumes, 1 and 2 volumes), etc. In addition, he also presided over the editing and publication of the China Tripitaka (Chinese part); The main papers are included in the Collection of Buddhist Thoughts in Han and Tang Dynasties and the History of China's Philosophy.

Sunjiazheng
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman, Chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
Ren Yuji is the longest-serving curator of the National Library. Mr. Sun, the former Minister of Culture, once commented: "Mr. Ren is a banner of the library community. As a respected senior scholar, this banner is commensurate with the status of the National Library. Under this banner, many experts, scholars, intellectuals and people who care about the cause of the library have been attracted and gathered, which has greatly improved the lofty academic status and cultural image of the National Library. "
Du Jiwen
Member of Honorary Department of China Academy of Social Sciences.
Academically, Ren's research on the history of China's philosophy is of pioneering significance. Du Jiwen said: "He is particularly able to discuss with an equal attitude and is particularly casual with students. He never used his identity to force others to accept his views. " On Ren's 90th birthday, the students wanted to celebrate his birthday, but he didn't agree. He just held a low-key academic seminar. "Teacher Ren has always regarded himself as the most common and ordinary person. He has nothing special, but this is his most special place. "
Jay Leyda
Deputy director of the national library
As the honorary curator of the National Library of China, Ren enjoys high prestige on the national map. Chen Li revealed that in the past, every time he attended the meeting of the National Map, Ren Lao said most that he hoped everyone would read more books. "He also said humorously that there is a saying in the Guo Tu Doctoral Dissertation Museum that' the road is long and Xiu Yuan is Xi, and I will search up and down'. Ren Lao said with a smile, this sentence should be replaced. Don't let readers feel the need to run around Guo Tu looking for information. Guo Tu should also provide readers with more convenient services. " Chen Li believes that Ren Lao's life is low-key, and he does not seek fame. "He confessed a few things before his death, but there was no grand farewell ceremony on his birthday and after his death." Li Shen (Ren's student, Professor of Philosophy Department of Shanghai Normal University) thinks that he is not only studying and researching in a school, but also doing it by himself. He is also the nominal editor-in-chief of China's Philosophy. Li Shen said that every scholar who has comprehensively studied China's traditional culture has resigned from his old office in the National Library. "Especially for the collation of ancient books and documents, Ren Lao has his own principles. From selecting topics, writing outlines to reviewing manuscripts, we must look at them one by one. "
