Hubei University for Nationalities is a provincial general undergraduate college with undergraduate education approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a provincial key construction university and a university jointly established by the provincial government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.

The school is located in the magical and beautiful Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. It is adjacent to Jingchu in the east, Xiaoxiang in the south, Chongqing and Guizhou in the west and Shaanxi and Chongqing in the north. The campus is surrounded by mountains and waters, which complements the beautiful scenery of Longdong River. Covering an area of nearly 1.600 mu, the teaching and research instruments and equipment are worth 325 million yuan, with more than 2 million books, and a complete modern e-book system and more than 3.2 million kinds of e-books.

The school has a team of teachers with reasonable structure and good quality. There are114 full-time teachers in the school, including 367 doctors and 39 professors. There are more than 50 national and provincial experts.
