School of Public Health of Wuhan University was established in June, 20001,which is one of the important bases for training senior professionals in public health and preventive medicine in China and global health science. The college consists of five departments: Department of Labor Hygiene and Environmental Hygiene, Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, Department of Health Toxicology, Department of Social Medicine and Health Management. Wuhan University Public Health and Preventive Medicine Experimental Teaching Center, MPH (Master of Health) Education Center and Global Health Research Center (affiliated to School of Public Health). Labor hygiene and environmental hygiene, social medicine and health management are key disciplines and characteristic disciplines in Hubei Province respectively. In the field of occupational harmful factors and health, the research direction of toxic mechanism and population effect of occupational harmful factors is formed; In the field of infectious disease epidemiology, it has formed the characteristics of molecular and immune research and population control research of diseases; In the field of environmental toxicology, the research direction mainly focuses on the toxic mechanism, environmental migration and transformation, toxic effects and anti-pollution related technologies of heavy metals and organic pollutants; In the field of biostatistics methods and applications, major morbidity statistics models, evaluation of medical diagnostic experiments, development and application of statistical software have been formed. In the field of rural health security and primary health management, a research direction featuring family planning station management, primary health institutions management and old-age security has been formed. The composition of scientific research projects has achieved a fundamental change from horizontal small projects to undertaking major national and local projects and international cooperation projects.
