Providence university, referred to as "Jingyi" for short, is a well-known Catholic university located in Shalu District, Taichung City, Taiwan Province Province, China. Its campus covers an area of 30 hectares and is known as a garden-style campus. The school was founded by Sister Gay Sham, an American female patron, and its name was taken from its Chinese name "Lu Jingyi". The history of the school can be traced back to Jingyi Girls' Middle School, which was founded in Kaifeng, Henan Province in 1932.
The school is a member of Taiwan Province Christian University Association and International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), and joined Youjiu University Association on 20 17. Its members include Soochow University, Ming Chuan University, Tamkang University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taipei Medical College and other 12 former private universities, all of which have been established for more than 50 years. Through the complementarity of professional knowledge and teaching resources, every school has obtained a school.
