1979 1, Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee approved the establishment of Jiangxi Radio and TV University, and in the same year established Shangrao Radio and TV University Workstation.

1984 In September, Jiangxi Provincial People's Government approved the establishment of Shangrao Branch of Jiangxi Radio University.

During the period of 1999, Jiangxi Provincial Education Commission organized 1 1 local (city) RTVU's educational evaluation, and Shangrao RTVU achieved excellent results, reaching the requirement of removing the word "fen" completely.

In July, 2000, Jiangxi Provincial Government approved the renaming of Shangrao Branch of Jiangxi Radio and TV University as Shangrao Radio and TV University.
