The University of Essex, also known as the University of Essex, was founded in 1964. It is located in the east of England and has three campuses: Colchester, Southend and Lawton. In the qs World University Ranking in 2022, the University of Essex ranked 439.

The University of Essex is already a top university in the world in social science research. The university has the first independent ISER school of social economics in Britain, the first zero-emission EBS teaching building of business school, and the first school in the field of politics and international relations in Britain.

The university has trained many outstanding alumni, and Christopher Pisarri, an alumnus with a master's degree in economics, was awarded the 20 10 Nobel Prize in Economics.
