School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University is one of the oldest units in Wuhan University. 1893, the predecessor of Wuhan University, Hadron School, had an "arithmetic gate" when it was founded; 19 13, Wuchang Teachers College was established; 19 14 set up the department of mathematics and physics. 1922 when it was changed from four departments to eight departments, it was named the Department of Mathematics. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, our institute has made remarkable achievements in the fields of function theory, partial differential equations, algebra, probability statistics, computational mathematics, etc., and has exerted a wide influence at home and abroad.
School of Mathematics and Statistics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was founded in 1953, and has gone through the development process from mathematics teaching and research section, mathematics department to school of mathematics and statistics. School of Mathematics and Statistics, led by the mathematicians of the older generation such as Lin Shaogong, Xu Lizhi, Chen Qingyi and Huang Zhiyuan, has gradually embarked on the arduous journey of discipline construction and development: 198 1 got a master's degree in applied mathematics, 1990 got a master's degree in computational mathematics, and 193 got a master's degree in probability theory and mathematical statistics. [1] The acquisition of the first doctoral program has made a qualitative leap in the discipline construction of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Then 1999 got a master's degree in basic mathematics, and in 200 1, in 2005, he got a master's degree in mathematics, covering five master's degrees in basic mathematics, computational mathematics, applied mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, operational research and cybernetics. At the same time, the College of Mathematics and Statistics has set up three undergraduate majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science and Statistics. There are 627 students in the college, including 4 undergraduate students, 90 master students and 27 doctoral students. At this point, the discipline construction of the School of Mathematics and Statistics has begun to take shape.
