Suzhou University is located in Suzhou, an ancient city known as "paradise on earth". It is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university and a provincial-level key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province. Its predecessor was Soochow University, which was founded in 1900. 1952 During the adjustment of national departments and colleges, Soochow University merged with Sunan Institute of Culture and Education and the Department of Mathematics and Science of Jiangnan University to form Sunan Normal College, which was named Jiangsu Normal College in the same year and ran in the former site of Soochow University. 1982 was transformed into Suzhou University with the approval of the State Council.
