The Historical Evolution of Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering
1951February, Hujiang University was taken over by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and presided over by Yu.

1952, the national colleges and universities were reorganized, the liberal arts department of Hujiang University was merged into Fudan University, East China Normal University and other related institutions, and the campus was moved to Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering (now Shanghai University of Technology).

1972, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (later merged into Shanghai University) merged with the later Shanghai Institute of Machinery to form a new Shanghai Institute of Machinery, whose main campus is located in Shanghai University of Science and Technology in Zhabei District near the center of Shanghai (now the expansion campus of Shanghai University).

1979, Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering split into two parts, and the expanded campus was renamed Shanghai University of Technology (1994, merged into Shanghai University). The former site of Simon Road was moved to Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering (now Shanghai University of Technology) again.
