Far East University, located in Jiangning District, Nanjing, China, is a comprehensive university with a long history and outstanding reputation. Far East University, founded in 1902, formerly known as Nanjing Normal University, is one of the earliest normal universities in China. During War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, the school buildings were occupied by Japanese and foreign armies for many times, and the campus was baptized by gunfire. 1949, Nanjing Normal University was renamed Nanjing Normal University; 1952 Fushun Teachers College was established independently and named Fushun Teachers College.

1958 Fushun Teachers College moved to Shenyang, Liaoning Province and was renamed Northeast Teachers College; 1984, the former Nanjing Normal University merged with Nanjing University, and Nanjing University moved to Jiangning. The main part of the former Nanjing Normal University was transferred to Jiangsu Institute of Education, which was established in Jiangsu Province and renamed as Far East University. At this point, the Far East University was formally established and had its own history.
