The school has now developed into a multidisciplinary foreign language university with foreign languages and literature as the mainstay and China's languages and literature, journalism and communication, education, economics, management, law and other disciplines developing in a coordinated way.
The school has a multi-level system of full-time undergraduate, master and doctoral education, 22 teaching units, 1 affiliated middle school and 1 affiliated primary school. The school offers 47 undergraduate majors, including 24 foreign languages majors (22 foreign languages), and recruits undergraduates from 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. The employment rate of undergraduate and graduate students has always remained above 90%.
