The college has four departments of Chinese, history, philosophy, anthropology and ethnology, seven research institutes including China Institute of Language and Literature, History Institute, Anthropology Institute, American History Institute, Philosophy Institute, Religious Studies Institute and Ancient Books Institute, and research centers such as China Linguistics, Drama, Film Art, Southeast Asian Chinese Literature, China Social and Economic History, China Customs History, Taoism and Traditional Culture, Buddhism and Marine Archaeology. The College has jurisdiction over the Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of School History, the Chen Jiageng Memorial Hall and the Lu Xun Memorial Hall, and has published academic works such as Research on Social and Economic History of China and Research on Taoism. There are 6 professors, 39 doctoral supervisors and 53 associate professors.
