The history of the United Methodist Church in the university circle can be traced back to 183 1, when the earliest Methodist rally in Cleveland was held in Cape Donne. 19 19, the church was named Epworth Euclid Methodist Church, which merged two churches with a long history-Euclid Avenue Methodist Church and Epworth Memorial Church. The latter church is the birthplace of the International Christian Youth Movement Epworth League. In 20 10, members of the Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church and the Cleveland First United Methodist Church voted to form the United Methodist Church in the university circle.
