Cornell University, founded by ezra cornell and andrew dickson white in 1865, is a new force among the Ivy League schools founded after the American War of Independence. Colleges and institutions
Cornell University is a non-profit organization, and most of its funds come from tuition fees, government research grants and alumni donations. Among them, three undergraduate colleges and/kloc-0 graduate veterinary hospitals are statutory colleges, and part of their funds come from the New York State Government to support research in specific fields. New york residents can reduce part of their tuition fees if they enter the college.
In addition, the Governor of New York is also a member of the University Council. Although somewhat similar, these colleges are not public or state schools, they are only private colleges operated under contracts between Cornell University and the state government.
Cornell is an autonomous university, and its subordinate colleges have autonomy in operation. They can make their own academic plans, enroll students and award degrees. The requirements of the whole school for bachelor's degree only include passing the swimming exam, taking two physical education class courses and completing a writing requirement.
Seven undergraduate colleges offer bachelor courses, seven graduate colleges offer postgraduate courses, while continuing education and summer semester colleges provide education for high school graduates, professionals and adults.
