The latest data released by American ESI (Essential Science Indicators) Essential Science Indicators Library on March 8, 20 12 shows that Xiangtan University's ESI ranking of "Materials Science and Engineering" has been ahead of universities and scientific research institutions in the world 1%, which indicates that our school's "Materials Science and Engineering" has entered the ranks of world-class disciplines.

ESI (Institute for Scientific Information) is a basic analysis and evaluation tool to measure the performance of scientific research and track the development trend of science. International scientific metrology institutions and international organizations often use this database as a statistical source to evaluate the scientific research ability and performance of countries or scientific research institutions. China's Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance (Ji Jiao [2012] No.6) define the top 1% of ESI disciplines as disciplines with advantages and characteristics in this direction internationally.
