Next, I will share with you some practical dry goods for memorizing words.
First, choose books.
1. If you have enough review time, you can choose a more detailed vocabulary book of Level 4, preferably out of order.
2. As the exam approaches, students with short review time can choose word books that only contain core vocabulary. (thin, only one or two thousand words)
3. Students who don't like memorizing words can choose memorizing word software, such as scallops and hundreds of words.
Second, the steps of memorizing words
1. Quick breakthrough
Don't spend too much time on each word, recite it three times and then recite it again.
2. Memorize by heart, think through the brain and repeat, but don't repeat mechanically, just three times. Too much is easy to produce inertia and do useless work.
3. Don't spell, don't spell, don't spell, say the important things three times, just recite the phonetic symbols and meanings. You can read and write naturally, so don't spell, spelling will only waste time.
4. Memorize only the common Chinese meanings of 1~2, not all of them, because I can't remember them.
Understand usage
If you have enough time, you can choose a detailed word book to understand the usage of each word to enhance your memory. (Personal opinion: not recommended)
3. Experience in doing problems
Understand the specific meaning of the words in the real questions, and remember them more firmly and deeply in the context.
Third, the order of memorizing words
1. First time: positive sequence memory
According to the calligraphy, from front to back, from top to bottom.
2. The second time: check in reverse order
When reviewing words, you can check and review them from back to front and from bottom to top, so it is not easy to form a qualitative memory of the position (that is, you can't remember what you can say in the word book, even which page and line you put in the question). )
3. The third time: disorderly inspection
Turn to that page to check which page, or jump over to check, in short, disturb the order.
Note: words are only recited once, and then opened, which is a check. For example, cover Chinese to see if English reflects the meaning. If you know, you will pass. If you don't recite it, recite it three times (if you don't recite too much)
Fourth, the time to recite words.
According to Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve, people's forgetting points are 5 minutes, half an hour, 12 hours, 1 day (24 hours), 2 days, 4 days, 7 days and 15 days respectively.
Checking and reviewing according to forgetting points can get twice the result with half the effort, and the memory of words is more solid and efficient. The specific method is as follows:
5 minutes: check every 5 minutes (check takes 1 minute, and it is better to change the order).
Half an hour: check every half an hour (check takes 5 minutes)
12 hours: check before going to bed at night (recite on the same day)
1 day: check the next night (check the first day and the same day)
2 days: check on the evening of the fourth day (the first day)
4 days: check on the evening of the eighth day
7 days: check on the fifteenth night.
15th day: check on the evening of 30th day.
Get four words in five days and ten days.
1. Divide the four words that need to be memorized into ten equal parts, and recite and review them in strict accordance with the above word memorization method. Specify a timetable for reciting and reviewing. Ten days is absolutely fine. After that, there are no new words, only review and check.
Words must be reviewed regularly, so that we can learn new things by reviewing the old ones, otherwise all previous efforts will be in vain.
3. In terms of time arrangement, memorizing words in the morning is the best and most suitable for short-term memory. Remember quickly, but forget easily. It is best to look up the words before going to bed, which is suitable for long-term memory.
It takes 4~5 hours to recite the words every day to get the CET-4 words in ten days, so be mentally prepared.
Note: Personally, I think that the above methods of memorizing words are not limited to memorizing English words, but also applicable to words in other languages. The fourth item, memorizing words, is more widely used. Besides words, you can try this review method for other things that you find difficult to recite.
After that, some handouts about CET-4 will be released one after another, so you can pay attention to them if necessary!
