Nara University is a Japanese private university located in Naraichi, Nara Prefecture, which was founded in 1969. The school has departments of literature (Japanese literature, history, geography and cultural property studies) and sociology (psychology and modern social studies), and the graduate school has departments of literature studies (master's and doctoral programs) and sociology studies (master's programs). Nara University is the earliest university in Japan to set up the discipline of cultural property, and there are many famous professors related to history and archaeology. In recent years, the whole school has promoted interdisciplinary "world heritage research", focusing on field scientific research under the geographical conditions of "Nara, a treasure house of ancient first-class products", with the goal of better cooperation with the local area. As a temple of historical and cultural property research, the school has many supporters from all over the country. Although Nara University is a relatively small university, it has different advantages and characteristics from big cities such as Tokyo and Osaka.
