Are you short of people? Lack! This may be the knowledge of domestic integrated circuit enterprises at present. According to the White Paper on IC Industry Talents in China, the number of IC employees in 20 19 was about 512,000, an increase of 200,000 compared with two years ago, but the gap was still close to 300,000.

Talent training is the top priority of developing integrated circuit industry in China, and integrated circuit is also one of the three strategic key industries in Shanghai. How to solve the talent gap of integrated circuits at present? How to cultivate integrated circuit talents suitable for enterprise needs? At the 2020 China (Shanghai) IC Innovation Summit held yesterday (18), experts from various fields in Industry-University-Research agreed that "understanding" the industry demand and solving the "disconnection" in education are the key to make up for the talent gap in the IC field.

College students can't "use it as soon as they come", and only 12% graduates enter the industry for employment.

The biggest source of IC talents is college graduates. According to reports, there are about 200,000 graduates in related fields of integrated circuits in China every year. However, only 65,438+02% of the 2065,438+09 graduates entered this industry. And many semiconductor companies say that college graduates can't "use it at once". According to the White Paper on Talents of Integrated Circuit Industry in China, the proportion of employers requiring candidates to have three to five years' work experience has increased from 2 1.6% in 2065 and 32% in 438+07 to 2020, and the market demand for talents with work experience has increased year by year.

Why do companies favor experienced people more and more? Wu Hanming, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and dean of the School of Micro-nano Electronics of Zhejiang University, said frankly: "Overall, the current training of integrated circuit talents is too theoretical, and integrated circuits are a field dominated by industrial demand." For example, a chip production line is difficult to build and put into production without a management team composed of hundreds of mature technicians. At present, it is difficult for graduates majoring in integrated circuits to make transistors on silicon wafers, which is a great disadvantage.

Drawing lessons from Stanford's experience, students are not required to write papers, but they must make chips.

The state attaches great importance to the cultivation of integrated circuit talents. In June last year, the relevant departments of the state approved four universities in Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Xiamen University to build an innovative platform for the integration of production and education of integrated circuits, explore the mechanism of joint training of high-end talents between enterprises and universities, and open up channels for personnel training, exchange and interconnection. In July this year, "Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering" was listed as a national first-class discipline.

Zhou Yumei, vice president of the National Model Microelectronics Institute of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, revealed that the proportion of college graduates entering the industry is as high as 55%, and 63.2% of undergraduates choose to pursue further studies, which is because students have strengthened their ties with the industry while studying in colleges and universities.

How do universities connect with the industry? Wang Jianyu, academician of China Academy of Sciences and president of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared The Stone of Other Mountains. According to reports, the integrated circuit major of Stanford University does not require graduate students to write papers, but requires students to make their own chips and accept the test of practice. Chips designed by graduate students must be successfully streamed before graduation. If you fail, graduation will be delayed for more than half a year. Facts have proved that my classmates have a deeper understanding of the industry.

Colleges and universities join hands with industry to pilot a new mode of talent training and explore the reform of evaluation mechanism.

In order to speed up the cultivation of integrated circuit talents and make up for the gap in industrial development, Shanghai universities began to pilot a new training model.

According to Lai, vice president of Moore Elite Education and Training, Moore Elite has signed an "order-based" training agreement with Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Electric Power University and other universities, that is, universities, enterprises and platforms jointly train to provide integrated circuit talents for enterprises. Order-based training is oriented to engineer positions, focusing on practical courses, allowing students to participate in enterprise work during their study, or even directly enter enterprise work after graduation. "The talents trained by' order-based' can get started when they enter the enterprise, shortening the running-in period from students to employees." Lai Linhui said.

Moreover, the "ivory tower" career of four-year undergraduate and three-year graduate students may also be broken, and a mode of joint training of junior college and master's degree is emerging. That is, students can enter the enterprise for directional full-time internship in the summer vacation for more than one year. Interns are equivalent to regular employees, and students have the priority to be hired by internship companies.

In order to adapt to the new training mode, colleges and universities are still exploring the reform evaluation mechanism. Before graduation, I had to write a thesis, but in the future, the actual project report may contain more gold than the thesis.

Zhou Yumei said that the demand for IC talents will continue to grow in the next two years. Industry needs a large number of basic engineers and skilled workers, and it is urgent to strengthen the integration of production and education in talent training to provide talent support for industrial development.
