China Youshi University (Beijing), China Shiyou University for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a national "double-class" construction university, the first batch of "2 1 1 project" construction universities, and a member university of Beijing Hi-Tech University Alliance and World Energy University Alliance.
The school's predecessor was Beijing Petroleum Institute, and 1953 was founded on the basis of Tsinghua University Petroleum Department, which gathered some teachers from Tianjin University, Peking University and other universities. 1960, the school was identified as a national key university; From 65438 to 0969, the school moved to Shengli Oilfield in Dongying, Shandong Province, and was renamed East China Petroleum Institute.
1988 was renamed Petroleum University, which consists of Petroleum University (Beijing) and Petroleum University (East China). In February 2000, the school was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education by China Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Corporation, and it was made clear that the University of Petroleum (Beijing) and the University of Petroleum (East China) were relatively independent; In June 2005, the school was renamed.
In May 2023, official website showed that the school had two campuses (Beijing and Karamay). Beijing Campus is located at the southern foot of Du Jun Mountain in Changping District, Beijing, with a total campus area of more than 700 mu. Karamay Campus is located in Karamay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a campus area of more than 7,000 mu.
