1, the establishment of Shanghai Student Union and its early activities.

After the establishment of Shanghai Federation of Students, it actively led Shanghai students to carry out activities. Later, as a unified student organization, the Shanghai Federation of Students was led by the Students' Federation of the Republic of China. The Shanghai Committee of the Socialist Youth League of China and the later Shanghai regional organizations of the China Productive Youth League fought fiercely with the Kuomintang Rightists for the leadership of the Shanghai Student Union. 2. Students' Union during the War of Liberation.

In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1937), on May 4th, the slogan of Shanghai Law School commemorating the May 4th Movement was torn and students were injured. On the 6th, students of Shanghai Law School went on strike and petitioned the mayor. On May 8th, various colleges and universities in Shanghai set up the "May 4th Support Association" to support France. The next day, the "May 4th Support Association" issued a declaration. 12 in may, Shanghai 10 colleges and universities opposed the general examination and established the "anti-examination Federation". On May 17, Jiaotong University, Shanghai Medical College, Jinan University, Tongji University, Kindergarten Teachers College, Conservatory of Music, Fudan University and Merchant Shipping established the National Federation of University Students.

On May 22nd, the Anti-Violence Alliance called a meeting of all school representatives in the city to discuss the establishment of the Shanghai Federation of Students. 102 School representatives attended the meeting and decided to hold a general strike in the city from 23rd to 24th. On May 3rd, Kloc-0, Shanghai Federation of Students was formally established. Seven schools, including Jiaotong University, St. John's University, Datong University, Jinan University, Tongji University, Soochow University and China Business School, were elected as the presidium, and the Executive Committee was formed. At this point, the student movements began to converge under the same goal of anti-civil war, anti-hunger and anti-persecution. On June 19, the Shanghai Municipal Government announced the banning of the Shanghai Federation of Students, and the Shanghai Federation of Students was forced to go underground.

On May 5th, 1949, Shanghai Student Union was established. At the beginning of its establishment, it called on the city's students to quickly resume classes, resume school and nurse schools, participate in maintaining school order, publicize work and strengthen the study of new-democratic revolutionary theory. The purpose of the Student Union is to unite all the students in Shanghai, seek their welfare, strive for the complete victory of the new-democratic revolution and strive for the construction of People's Republic of China (PRC). The student union adopts the group membership system.

3. After liberation, the student union.

On May 30th, 1949, the Shanghai Federation of Students, the Federation of Primary and Secondary Education and the Technical Association jointly held a youth congress from all walks of life to commemorate May 30th, which made the leadership of the Federation open and established the preparatory committee of the Shanghai Democratic Youth Federation. On June 3, a meeting of representatives of temporary schools in the city was held, the executive committee was enlarged and a student task force of more than 300 people was organized. In less than 10 days, more than 100 schools were helped to organize student self-government meetings, which increased the number of students' union members from more than 70 schools before liberation to 209 schools on June 3 and 324 schools in July 17, uniting the whole city.
