Yunnan University was founded in 1922 as a private Donglu University, 1934 changed its name to provincial Yunnan University, and 1938 changed its name to national Yunnan University. It is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in the western frontier of China. 1958, Yunnan University was placed under the management of Yunnan Province by the Central Ministry of Higher Education. 1978 Yunnan university was identified as one of the 88 key universities in China by the State Council.

2. Kunming University of Science and Technology

Kunming University of Science and Technology, founded in 1954, has developed into a comprehensive university with work-centered, science-engineering integration, distinctive industry and regional characteristics, and coordinated development of economics, management, philosophy and law. It is the largest key university in Yunnan Province with complete levels and categories, and plays an important role in China's non-ferrous metal industry and regional economic and social development. 3. Yunnan Normal University

Yunnan Normal University is a provincial key normal university with a long history and fine tradition. Yunnan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, founded in 1960, is the second batch of higher Chinese medicine undergraduate colleges in China.
