The Middle School Affiliated to Sichuan University (Chengdu No.12 Middle School) was founded in 1908, and it was an affiliated middle school of provincial capital institutions of higher learning (the predecessor of Sichuan University) at that time. After liberation, it belonged to Chengdu, and 1953 was named Chengdu No.12 Middle School. Later, Chengdu Education Bureau handed it over to Sichuan Branch and transformed it into "Science and Technology School of Sichuan Branch of China Academy of Sciences" (hereinafter referred to as "Provincial Science and Technology School"). Later, the science and technology school was closed and resumed as the twelfth middle school in Chengdu. The school site was moved from Sanwayao to the present Jiuyanqiao.
In 2003, Chengdu No.29 Middle School merged to restore the name of "Middle School Affiliated to Sichuan University". In 2006, the school was placed under the direct control of Wuhou District, and in 2008, it was merged into Chengdu No.50 Middle School.
